Important Note: Compostable products are NOT accepted in yardwaste bags or at the Oma-Gro facility.
Where Else Could It Go?
Products labeled as certified compostable can be composted through a paid program at an industrial-composting facility, such as Hillside Solutions.
Tip: Certified compostable products like cups, bags, or serveware require additional heat and time to be composted, and will typically not break down in a home compost pile.
Did You Know
Some certified-compostable items may look like they are plastic or paper, but are actually made out of plant-based materials, such as corn or sugarcane fibers. Compostable products are made to break down into organic compounds and are not recyclable materials.
DO NOT place compostable products in a green-lid curbside recycling cart or drop-off site container. To prevent contamination of recyclables, place compostable items in the garbage if you cannot use a commercial composting option.
